I've taken one just last year and my husband has taken one in 2001 after I passed on it.  ( I did run allllllll the way down the hill and got the gun and hiked aaaaaallll the way back up before deciding not to shoot it.)

I wonder how many will post opening day bear kills, there he was just sitting in the clear cut... Definetly wasn't eating a doughnut when I shot him....  :chuckle:. Just had to say it, it amazes me how many bears are killed just sitting in a clear cut opening day.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

0 for me but after my brief self taught experience on how to glass for bears I am hooked. Spotted 2 different bears on two different hills 30 mins apart... (the first year i don't buy a bear tag i spot my first two bears...) My partner thought I was bs-ing him when I spotted the second one  :IBCOOL:

People give me a hard time about that. How about you?  But in our younger days who realized it was that out of the ordinary  :dunno:

I know exactly how many I've missed! :bash:  One in Idaho with the bow while elk hunting and four in Washington with the a rifle.  One that kills me was an almost white blonde at 150 yards.  Haunts my dreams still to this day.  I know two other people that missed that same bear.  Maybe it was a ghost!

Pretty sure my first one was a bow kill in '81 because my oldest brother wasn't around to help out as he had just started college.  If I were to guess I'd say between 18 and 20 with the bow.  Probably just shy of double that with a gun.  I do know for certain only two with a pistol - one with the TC Contender and another with a 45.  Finished off a couple more for clients with the 45.  Also know my client total when guiding was 21 bear for 23 hunters.  Wife's total I think is six with one monster about 450#.

Always wanted to go to Maine and try pit hunting with a spear, but I never made it for that season.  One of my bigger regrets as I had a couple invites in the late 80's.  Can't for the life of me remember what excuse I had for not going >:(

Never hunted bear using hounds.  I might have to do that one of these days.  I think it would be nice to have at least experienced it once.

He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

7 for me. 4 with hounds 3 without. Been on close to 200 successful bear hunts with hounds prior to 96. Still haven't shot a cinnamon yet. Let 9 walk last year before shooting mine last year. 6 of them were a set of a sow and 2 cubs but the other 3 just werent very heavy and really want a cinnamon. Took last years out of wynochie area great area for you bear hunters looking for a good spot to get your first bear.
