Baker lake suggestions
« on: July 30, 2013, 08:17:00 PM »
So me and my wife are heading up to baker lake next week for 4 days of camping and fishing. We will be fishing from kayaks and maybe a 1 man pontoon. I'm looking for suggestions in what lures/ baits to buy, any type of rigging, any other species if fish to target besides sockeye and which campground would be best. Any suggestions a appreciated I'm hopefully going to catch my first salmon in this trip. That's the goal anyways.

Thanks
Bryan

Just google Baker Lake sockeye. Although it has been slow this year :P And make sure you have shrimp (very important).

Check Washington lakes.com you can see reports all the way back to the first legal sockeye caught a few years back.

Key to Reds is slow speed and lots of gear in the water, the more poles the better. When I go with my buddy we make sure to have at least 5 fishermen and still use 2 dummy dodgers. You want to imitate a school of fish which is why you want all the dodgers.Watch the turns though or you'll find yourself in an epic detangling session.
