I do just fine with Steel. I get snow geese with a 20gs. and steel shot. There are certin compensations you have to make, and yes steel was better but once you figure out shot size differences you can do just fine.

Honestly the only lead I buy is for trap.  It's nothing against lead, it just helps me to keep my ammo organized.  I've got my goose loads, my duck loads, and my upland bird loads..... and somewhere my defense loads :)

I only shoot steel reguardless what I'm hunting. No problems. #4 for grouse.
The first bird may get the worm, but it's the second rat that gets the cheese.
