welcome, lars. you ought to start a new thread and post a story and some pics. there's a lot of bear hunting fans on here that i'm sure would love to get the details.

Welcome Lars, and that is a dandy bear Poulsbo.  I would still suspect the measurement since the largest bear ever killed in the Western half of the us was just listed in Eastmans as 22 and change.  Still a great looking bear.

Hell, 550lbs and 23" would be BIG for a lower 48 griz.  This sounds a bit like a fish story to me.  Would love to see some pics and be proven wrong.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Pics are up.  Look two posts above you, though those pictures do suck.

WOW! I would love to shoot a big bear. Congrats poulsbo. When you get the taxidermy done, you'll have to put up the pics.

Congrats Poulsbo, that is one heck of a bear.  From the pics, can't tell just how big it is, but it is damn nice.  But I stand by my previous statement that a 550lb 23" skull griz in the lower 48 is a BIG grizzly.  Congrats on a hell of a bear.

I have not seen this bear, but I have spoken to a WDFW Game Officer who has, and YES it is about 550-600 lbs. Not sure of the measurement though.

That is a monster bear!!!  I can not wait to see an official measurement on him.  I have seen one bear that may have gone that big.  It was August up at Spencer Meadows.  He was hunting elk calves.  Mamma elk was having none of it though, and the elk left the meadow at a fast trot.  That bear looked like a Volkswagon Beetle walking thru the tall grass on the meadow though.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Awesome bear. If you want help posting pics email them to me and I can get it done for you. I'd like to see more if they exist (as I am sure others would too). Is there more to the story?
