I voted for WhackNStack.  Not influenced at all by my having seen him with the first dead bear pic in this thread or anything.

How do you sleep that late (3:00) when it's light out?  On my days off I have a hard time sleeping past 6:00 am...

My windows have black drapes, absolutely no light comes through.
Your body is used to getting up early though, out of routine it will keep doing it. I have no set schedule unfortunetly. The only time I can really get up at 6am is when my girl gets up for work or Im going to the river.

I almost pulled the trigger on a bear at about 300 yds today. I thought she was a sow but I wasn't really sure but after watching for about 5 minutes or so and having her in my scope several times I let her walk into the timber. I'm glad I did cuz when she came back out a couple of minutes later she had a couple of cubs with her. I watched them for awhile but when they started heading over to my buddies side of the cut I tried to call him to let him know she was a sow with cubs. His radio wasn't on!
I ran up my side of the cut and over to his side as quick as I could. As I came over the top behind him I could see him on his rifle and the bear out in front of him on a stump. I called out 'sow with cubs' and got him to stop just before he pulled the trigger. It was that close. I don't like bears eating fawns but I can't see letting 2 little cubs die a horrible death. We'll get after the big boar tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who voted for me. At least I was the first whose name was on the list.

Kudos.  I tried to kill a bear for 3 years before getting it done, saw bears in range every year but couldn't be sure there were no cubs.  It was worth the wait.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Glimpsed another bear today at about 250 yds but only had a few seconds to see him. I don't think it was the sow with cubs from yesterday but it may have been. She's got some red on her side as she looks like she's rubbed a little and I didn't see that today. I'm actually after a big boar in that canyon that is bigger (body size) than the 21 5/16 boar I shot there last year. The boar shoud be easy to spot unless he's lost the blue collar the game dept. put on him.
