Tikka T3 Lite 7mm LH
« on: August 03, 2013, 07:39:19 PM »
Strongly considering buying this rifle.  I have been using my Rem Model 700 7mm for as long as I could shoot it.  Sad, but I think I am ready for an upgrade.  Anyone have this rifle?  What ammo do you use?  I have been using federal nosler partition in my Model 700 for years.

Big tikka fan, but don't run a 7 mag in one.

The 7 mag seems to be a bit heavier and a bit longer than some of the other calibers.  I just want to stick with the same caliber since I have been shooting it for so long.

The guns are solid and great shooters. They really are a great gun. The only complaints you will see "mainly from people who have never owned one 8) :chuckle:" are the stock and the clip. I don't really like a strait stock but shoot them o.k. Now there is enough aftermarket stocks to switch it out if you so desire. Also you can change the mag system out. I have never had one fail.

You will not see many complain on the way they shoot.

Love my Tikka t3 in 7 mag.  It's killed a Dall's sheep, Caribou, Mtn. Goat and Moose with no problems at all.  Great gun.

Does it kick your a$$ since it is such a light rifle in a relatively large caliber?

Very Happy with my Tikka T3 lite in 300 win mag. shot multiple 1" or less 3 shot groups! looking to break it in any day now on a westside bear. I'm thinking with a decent shot the bear will not go far! Really like forward to hearing the sound of that rifle up in the hills!

I have had great luck with just about everything I've fed it.  Remington Core Lokt worked great on my moose, Berger VLD worked great on my sheep and goat. Sierra gamekings worked great on my caribou.  I've used both factory loaded ammo and my handloads all with great results.  I can get a little bit better groups with my hand load stuff, but all of the factory stuff I've shot thru it has been under 1 moa, which is plenty for hunting.  The sheep was a close shot, the caribou was around 430 yards and he went about 30 yards, the goat was around 200 and the moose was at 436 yards and didn't even take one step.
