Arron
I'm in Arlington also, I have a bunch of handguns. If you want to go out and do some shooting let me know, I go out by Oso or up to Darrington depending on if it's durring the week or on the weekend. Up to Norpoint Shooting Range you can buy a range shoot $15 and do the lane gun rental another $15 (you have to buy their ammo) and shoot as many of the range gunsyou want. This gives you the option of actually shooting what ever gun you want before you go out and buy one.
Norpoint also has the lay-away program, 25% down and three months to pay it off. And they have a large sellection of handguns or can order you what ever you want.

Really any gun that feels good to you and that you will carry everyday.(weight wise) and you can shoot well will work fine.
I carry a S&w Sigma 9 mm auto. My pocket rocket is a .380 LCP by Ruger
There are a lot of threads on here about this topic.

Thats what it boils down to, what you are comfortable with and will carry every day and not leave it home because it is to big or bulky or uncomfortable you don't want it sitting at home when you need it.

The best one is the one that you practice with the most and are confident with. If you can, try a few out. If you can't, just handle a few and ask the person behind the counter if you can dry fire it.

Like one nationally ranked instructor said..concealed guns are not meant to be comfortable- they are meant to be CONFORTING. I personally carry a Sig 229/9mm in a kramer holster or a Sig 220 carry/.45 in a kramer holster. Both are great. Personal choice for a revolver is a Ruger SP101 2 1/4" .357 w/ a Hogue monogrip--very comfortable. My 2 cents worth.

I've carried everything from a fullsize 1911 to a Keltec 380, My go to gun for over a year has been my ruger LC9, yes long trigger pull but if your in a defensive shooting that isn't gonna matter at the time in my opinion. I now own two since I bought a second one with the crimson trace for my wife. Although my new conceal carry is the springfield xds .45
very comfortable to carry and well its a .45
...My buddy has the shield in .40 and loves it I can only imagine the 9 version is just as nice! Probably my next purchase when the funds are ready!

I love the Sig 238. It is an outstanding carry pistol. I prefer a strapless leather holster. If you get a holster that straps, be sure the strap does not disengage the safety throughout the day. Accurate, reliable. I always have a voice pager, or a radio on my belt, so when I am off duty, the 238 is about the same as carrying a Motorola Minitor.
