Are people really surprised? These bucks eat out of sustainable food plots for 6 years and then the landowner decides to harvest it. I hate these whitetail hunters for that reason. That's called cattle farming, not hunting.

I wouldnt knock their style of hunting.  that's just how they do it back in the midwest.
In this state(WA) we have probably 90% of all hunters are road hunters.  To me, that is not hunting.  It's called "driving around hoping to shoot something" hunting.

I don't hate midwest whitetail hunters. But I don't really consider it hunting either, more of harvesting deer. :twocents:

It's all they've got. They don't have wilderness and backpack hunting or anything like that. Any of you guys ever try still hunting your way through a hardwood forest in November?? It ain't happening. Too noisey. The work those hunters do is just a different form of work from what western hunters tend to do. I don't think shooting deer at 1000 yards is hunting either but some do. That's just shooting. Any yo yo can get within a half mile of a deer or elk. Doesn't mean it's right or wrong, it's just not for me.

Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

To make that comment is close minded. Id be willing to bet you have never hunted out there. How many times have you ventured to NM or AZ to chase elk? or CO to chase mule deer? Like mentioned above its all they got! and some really put the work in out there to make places to hunt. THese guys bust their a%$ to make food plots and they create there own luck and success. Its just in a different way, theres plenty on here that bust their tails scouting and in a way it will create success. If you dont put time into it, your hunting on luck or hoping. I really dont like watching farm hunts on TV in the mid west, but I can sure respect the serious effort some of these guys go thru.

Then to say "we shouldnt be surprised" 300" whitetail?  :bash: u almost make it out like these are dime a dozen! Most people dont even have a 300" bull!!

I have always hunted the west, mostly Idaho, and I hated watching hunting shows from back east where the hunter had names for every deer that came to the food plot and they sat in their blind and shot deer when they got to an age/size they wanted them...more like farming than hunting, as was said earlier.  Earlier this year I bought some property and the first things I did were plant food plots, put cameras and feeders up and now I recognize nearly all of the deer that I have regularly patterned at my food plots and I hope I can get a few of my friends on to some of the larger bucks so i can film their hunts.  My how my views have changed :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
