Looking for a place to camp around ellensburg
« on: August 06, 2013, 10:01:07 AM »
Looking for a place to camp around ellensburg. Me and about 10 friends are gonna float.the Yakima river on sat. And want a place to camp afterwards that isn't  45 min away. A few friends are coming in from out of town Friday night so I'm worried I won't be able to secure a spot on sat. Was thinking tanum creek area but guessing it will be full by time we are done floating. Had some bad experiences with drunk people at the spots on the river in the past. Any one have a field. I can throw a few tents or know a good spot? Thanks.

We usually camp at the Yakima River RV park.  It's about 1/4 mile from the Ringer launch.  There is a nice group tent site near the main house and some RV spots closer to the road.  Nice place.

Hey Scott,

Keep the updates on your float coming.   Like where you put in, take out, where you camped, the pace you floated, what you would do differently, etc.   It’s something I’ve wanted to do and if I don’t get to it this year, I definitely will next year.

Thanks,
Carl

No prob Carl . We do it once or twice every year, just hard finding a good place to camp without drunk a holes or tweekers.

I havent but there arent any fires out there that i know of and usually some camping spots, the one park is still shut down as the road washed out and the creek changed its location a little but you can walk in .... there is another camp area beyond that and then there are lots of spots further back as well
