Need a new hunting partner: deer/elk-mod/arch
« on: August 06, 2013, 10:47:31 AM »
Looking for a general hunting partner for the westside (for now), though I'd love to explore central/eastern WA.  Focusing on day trips or two-three day overnighters.  My old fishing/hunting buddy lives too far away and we just don't have the time to connect.

I'll be hunting archery elk and modern deer, maybe hunt pheasant (I have a GSP).

Little info about me:

Age: 30
Resident: Seattle  :bash:
Job: Manufacturing, Seattle
Born: Bellingham

Been hunting three years, though I've fished the entire puget sound/peninsula (salmon, STEELHEAD) since I was 14.  So no stranger to outdoors, but wanted to start some new adventures.  Last year I didn't hunt at all because my son was born at the beginning of the rut.

I'm not a crazy, adrenaline junkie, but I will walk, climb and work as much as needed to find the animals.  I prefer walk in places (I also mt. bike), backcountry, places away from people with great views; I want to get out, explore, learn and find animals on my own.  I don't want other's honey holes.

Looking for someone in a similar situation with the same or a little more experience than I.  I'm a believer in apprenticing and learning from those who've put their time in.  That's how I learned to steelhead--I fished with good friends (whom I'm still friends with) for years, and they taught me everything I know, so now I get to pay it forward with my son in 10-15 years  :)

PM if you'd like to grab a beer somewhere and see if there's a fit.

Do you only hunt on the west side or do you make it over to the east side much? I live in East Wenatchee and hunt all over the east side of the state.

Well, I'm focusing on the westside now because its familiar, but I would like to hunt / learn the eastside....

Love the open country out there.

I love the country over here too but it is not all open. I hunt everything from sage flats to deep, dark timber. Can't beat having quality elk, mulie and whitetail hunting within an hour or two from your house. Not to mention duck and goose hunting five minutes from your house.
