Whats the difference??

What are the differences in sights that makes one better than the other. I already take into account plastic, cheap, or confusing adjustments. But whats the difference between a 100 dollar trophy ridge sight, or a spott hogg sight that is right around the same price on ebay (cant remember the name). Or a Copper John? I know tru glo has frailty issues so Ive read. Pls enlighten me. I see on here all the time, SPOTT HOGG all the way, or what have you.

Look at the metals they are made out of, how they are adjusted, the warranty on pins, etc., do they have markings for micro adjusting.

I have a Spott Hogg, but I don't think it's the end-all be-all.  Don't over look the Montana Black Gold sights either.  They are an excellent sight and have an outstanding warranty/customer service.

marketing hype....I've used my tru-glo in every weather and in every terrain washington has to offer for over 15 years with no issues.  Even dropped my bow out of  treestand with no issues.

Other that quality materials, for me, it's the horizontal vs vertical sight pins....what you feel comfortable with.  That's why I like the Trophy Ridge.

What model of the Trophy ridge do you have?

I have the Rhino (about 3-4 years old).  I looked online before I replied and I don't think they make it any more.  Mine had 5 vertical sight pins and I removed 2.  They were all vertical from the base of the sight.   Some of the new ones have one on the bottom and others on the top...too confusing for me.  I like it especially for low light because the pin doesn't cover the target area when the critter is approachingif that makes sense).  It'is also easy to adjust and lock into place.

I just put one of these on my bow a few months ago.  The tool-less adjustment makes me a little nervous still.  Give me some comforting words please.

never had it loosen up in 6 years!    the little turning stud pegs are kinda a weak spot.  i replaced them with the appropriate sized long allen screws from ACE hardware.  more torque to really get them tight!

Had a tru glo on one of my bows for a while with the tool less adjustment, held up fine, though over time the tool less feature can loosen up. I would just check them before I shot and all is good

I have a Trophy Ridge and get wash out with my pins being too bright against certain back grounds.  The PhotoChromatic system on the Black Gold has my eye, I just wonder how well it actually works.

Well I ended up getting a trophy ridge, VI5. 5 Vertical pins. I love it, I didn't know if I would like the vertical pins, but now after shooting it, I wont go back. Just about got it dialed in. Couple minor adjustments to go. I looked at the toolless adj sight, but figured its another thing for me to lose. Thanks for all the help

You will be happy with it. I have shot vertical pins for years and been very happy. This year they have me shooting the new react sight and it's the first horizontal pin sight I have used in years. I am falling into my place with it but can't say I wont switch back

I put that same sight on 2 years ago. I wont go back to a horizontal pin sight. I dont know why more companies dont make them.
