A lil trick I learned to unclog carbs...Warm up motor.  Take off the air cleaner.  Rev it high. While at high RPM's cover carb with a rag to choke it out. BEFORE the motor dies, unchoke it and keep it running. Repeat procedure 5-10 times.
This causes such a high vacuum it will unclog restrictions in carbs and fix problems sometimes.  Beware if you let the motor die it will be hard to start again because choking the motor causes it to go very rich!!!!

if you've got any solid crud in the bowl the only way to do it is to take it apart and clean it all out.

my guess would be that there is a piece of debris lodged in the main jet.  motor runs fine until you start opening the throttle(idle passages clear), then it starts going lean.  i would not keep running a motor in that condition, since it's leaning out, you run the risk of burning up a piston.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun
