Does anyone have information on the Snoqualmie Forest (http://www.htrg.com/htrg/manage_snoqualmie.htm)?  I haven't called yet to see if you're allowed to hunt there - I know that Weyerhaeuser used to allow people to hunt there many years ago before the sale/re-sale.  Is there any other large Region 4 private land that allows hunting for a modest pass fee?

South of us there's Vail http://www.weyerhaeuser.com/Businesses/RecreationalAccess/Washington., but I've read it is insanely overcrowded - though perhaps weekdays would be a little better.

As a final note for the other people new to this area, you might want to subscribe to http://www.wogameandfish.com/ magazine.  Seems to be an OK resource for newbs like me.

Oh and Im also looking at joining a range in the area, like http://www.svrifle.com/ in Fall City.  I've heard good things about them and it's only $77.50 for the last half of the year ($115/full year).  Anyone here an SVRC member?

Snoq tree farm is no longer owned by Weyco. Hancock now owns it and you can buy a yearly access pass for $200. There is a limit of 500 passes sold and you can go on the tree farm daily unless there are fire restrictions. Vail is still for the time being Weyco and unless they change it is free access on weekends only and it is a zoo because there are alot of deer on that treefarm. Some areas are walkin only on weekdays unless they are logging in that area. Hope that helped.......Les

While driving to my girlfriends house on the Platuea last weekend I saw a really nice buck in velvet in somebody's yard. I told her I was going to dress up like a Weber BBQ and sit by a flower pot during the early season. I was joking, but she didn't find it very funny. Don't think the Plateau is conducive to hunting. Sorry I didn't add anything of value to your thread, just thought I'd share.

i found some sweet area. not a single person in the area last year, never seen a boot track.

tons of does where i was hunting. and i would archery hunt it this year if it wasnt for my gf hunting.

Believe me, if it's public land and it's in 454, it's well known.

noone said anything about public  :chuckle:

i met a guy last fall who has some land, which wasnt that great to hunt. but the guy next door to him allowed me access to his property this season. i scouted it quite a bit and never seen any sign of bucks in the area. but the does were everywhere.

ive hunted the the snoq farm my whole life. and my parents have hunted it 90% of thier lives. there still are some very nice deer to be had...but i can tell you that its not worth the $200 per person to access the farm. the hunting has dropped off drasticly over the last 5 years. and the cougar population as sky rocketed, ive seen 3 in the last 5 years in there and a couple warden buddies of mine say thats less then half of what they have tagged in the area.  :bash: :bash: :bash:

It is a good place to own private land, if you can find acreage.

man it was so much easier finding LOTS of empty public land to hunt in New Hampshire within a 10-30 minute drive :P  Western (all of?) WA is a PITA in comparison.

I guess it's time to start visiting farms or driving 4+ hours to scout.  This is a little discouraging

you are about 20 minutes from tons of public land and about 1 hour from endless amounts of public land, wilderness, high country, etc. no need to drive 4 hours.
