Northe Lake Chelan mountain goat tag. Where do i go?
« on: August 11, 2013, 11:03:40 AM »
My father and I put in as partners for the mountain goat and both drew our third choice, North Lake Chelan unit. We have done a little scouting which is pretty much a lot of steep hiking in the heat. I was hoping some one could point us in the right direction. We have been around Uno peak, seems good but so far  no goats. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have the money, I'd first call the area bio and find out where most of the goats are killed, then I'd pay for a couple of hours of flight time so you can really dial in on where you want to expend your energy hiking.

Great advice JLS,   probably spend the same or less on a flight then all the gas and not to mention the time saved.  Two goat tags would be worth it.  Way to help the guy.

I hunted by boat for my sheep last year.  I would suggest getting on the opposite side of the lake and look across with some good optics.  You will find them.....then you just have to get to them.

Maybe not just "pay for some flying time" but specifically flying time with the company that flies regularly up the lake.  And maybe see if the Lady of the Lake skippers or crew can asked.
