You find food and seclusion and just about anywhere form the Canadian boarder to the Columbia river is going to be good. Literally bear everywhere you find food sources in the Cascades. My latest reports were a bit doom and gloom as far as berry production up high. So you might have to hit quite a few spots to find any good concentration of bear and berries this year. Look for pigeons and poop! You find them both in the same spot with few pickers and traffic you should be having a good day. Also, in years with poor berry production I try to work the calls a few times per day. If bear think they can get a meal easier by stealing it than foraging for it you should get a good response. When the brush is just a little too high for a good shot calling can often get them to stand up or get up on a stump to take a look. We've killed a good number of bear over the years that we could see but weren't able to get shots at until they stood up on a log to take a look at who was killing that fawn.
