gates in the clearwater gmu?
« on: August 12, 2013, 11:09:15 AM »
During archery are the gates closed to vehicles? My buddy and i are hoping that we dont have to worry about people driving past us on our bikes or when we are hiking. If they are open? Is there anywhere we can get way back without being disturbed. We are pretty happy with our current scouting findings on our last two trips there. But i would hate to have quads and trucks pass me opening morning :dunno:

The gates should be closed, except for one.  The one that is open, the road is blocked off further down by big boulders--there's a washout farther down the road.  Only vehicle you should see is a red DNR truck.  They have cameras hidden in the trees.

The only rigs that you might see are DNR or Tribal.  We quit archery hunting up there because of the tribes killing bulls that we were chasing.

:yeah: Used to be pretty bad gate abuse up there. I'm sure it still happens. DNR always just said the gates were too remote to really monitor or repair often. Didn't actually seem to care; seemed more P-Oed about disgruntled hunters complaining about gate violations/vandalism then the actual acts themselves.
Charlie Kirk didn't speak hate, they hated what he said. Don't get it twisted.

I spent some time at the lake today and did not hear any bulls bugling yet. It should be getting close.
