Bowtech Insanity Pros and Cons?
« on: October 31, 2013, 12:41:16 PM »
Hi everybody. So my older bow messed up on me and i sent it in to Bowtech and they offered me a new bow at dealer cost. Because of my short draw length (26in) I decided to look into the Bowtech Insanity because it has great ratings and looks great! Problem is i have never shot the bow before because none of our local shops that i know of do not carry it anymore or maybe never did. So i shot one that was similar to it called the Bowtech Experience 2013. This bow is by far one of the smoothest bows i have shot but the lowest draw length on this bow is 26.5in so its just a little too long for me. Can the Insanity be compared to the Experience (feel, draw, grip, release, back wall, etc)? I should also mention that my decision is only made over the phone through Bowtech. It would be easier if i had the bow at hand but its just not the case. So if any of you have shot/owned the Insanity, what are some pros and cons about the bow? How did it feel to you compared to the Bowtech Experience if you have shot the Experience. Anything is helpful. Thanks guys.

I had a Diamond Iceman flx 2010. The bow had D-string on me twice. Once on a doe and once on a spike bull at 40yds which could have possibly been my first bull. I did some research about the cams on the diamond bows such as the Outlaw and iceman and the what i found was that the groove on the top cam was way too shallow. About half of the string is exposed. If you torque the bow wrong (which i happened to do during those few times) there is a good chance you might D-string. I just cant stand having that happen again. These are some of the problems I had dealt with with my Iceman bow.

Insanity is a great bow and its fast. The short brace can make it picky. Its a great shooter and ive take a deer with it at 55yds this year. I like the experience is really nice to and id take one in a heartbeat too. Go to a shop and shoot them both to see what u like

I have an Admiral and the Insanity.  Insanity is a little faster.  I like mine.  My DL is also 26".  The shorter BH doesn't bother me since my arm is shorter anyway.  You won't go wrong with the Insanity.

I've got the Insanity CPXL.  The back wall is a bit harsh, but its a fast bow.  I'm losing some of the finish on the limbs, I thought Bowtech had fixed that issue.  Or maybe I got an old pair of limbs on mine.

At 26" draw length I think you are looking at the right bow.  The Insanity gets a little rough at longer draw lengths and the low brace height is not necessary for those with the average to long draw lengths.  But for your 26" draw I think the trade off is well worth it.  And at 26 I don't think you will notice much difference in the smoothness of draw.  Very good choice for you IMO

i went to a shop and shot the experience and the insanity, and i laid them on top of eachother to see how different they were, here is what i got out of it. they are both the same bow from first look pretty much except brace height and some vibration dampeners. other than that they look like same bow. so i shot both of them a good many times and i went home with the experience, this thing is crazy easy to shoot and it wasnt hard to tune either once i learned how to use the overdrive binary cams yokes for tuning. i really really like this bow. i like the 7 in brace height to because i can shoot with more bulky clothes on without the string catching my arm.
