I seen it yesterday... The new bows are up on there website at www.hoyt.com  - It's called the Alphamax...  I believe someone was bashing BowTech bows on here under the arrows thread (well not quite bashing just giving each other a hard time) but it appearts that Hoyt has copied BowTech with the center pivot limb design!!!  :yike:  :yike:  :yike:  Oh and, the Hoyt's are slower than the BowTech's!  :o  :chuckle:

I wouldnt say they copied, maybe took a already decent idea and made it better.. let me know when hoyt has a recall or when bowtech can withstand 1500 dryfires.. or when they win anything in any major tournament circuit................. :P

Not all of their bows look like bowtechs, the new alphamax yes, the old ones not so much.

The Katera is a mighty fine bow.  Heck, I even like my Trykon XL even though most think it is a hunk of junk.

What will be interesting is if their center pivot limb design holds up better than the bowtechs did.

BowTech never had a problem with the center pivot design - actually it worked out just the way they had intended!  The General is the one that they had a problem with and it was because they had the limb manufactured incorrectly and it was splitting at the end cap where the axle was...  I never owned a General and never will as I like a little longer axle to axle bow.

I can't disagree with you on the tournament standpoint, and the fact that Hoyt's older bows do not look like a BowTech because they don't!  The only ones that resemble a BowTech are the 2 new ones.  I am not saying that Hoyt makes a bad bow because by no means do they - some of the best archers in the world shoot Hoyt.  All I am saying is they somewhat copied BowTech's design...  :chuckle:

I dont get how anyone that has ever shot a trykon xl thinks its a pos.. thats been my hunting bow since 06... it shots smooth as can be, is quiet and x ring accurate.... I shot my first vegas 300 round with it..... and killed my first bull.... it has never let me down period.......... and i still wouldnt say they copied, they took a good idea and put their own twist on it...... Id still bet its a better bow, and no one can really argue about hoyts toughness... no bow comes close to 1500 dryfires for the riser and 1000 for the limbs.. they have been a industry leader for a LONG LONG time.. and I used to shoot martin.. but after I got my last hoyt.. I have never looked back....... bowtech makes a good bow for sure...... but they are not on the same level IMO......

Everyone of the top bow companies make great bows. I have seen a hoyt with a bent cam from a dry fire, it still shot but it wasnt that accurate.

When I went looking for a new bow last year I shot every bow I could get my hands on. I ended up with a Diamond black ice and love it, but when I go look for another bow for target only I will go back though all the new bows and see what feels good to me. :twocents:

No doubt Hoyt makes a tough bow.  Three years ago my Ultratec popped out of my bow rack while doing about 25 on my Trail 110 and I ran right over it, right down the middle.  Readjusted the sights and killed my bull with it the next day, one tough bow for sure.  Hoyt has been in the business for a lonnnngggggg time and definetly has the financials to buy good shooters, thats why they win all the big ASA and IBOs and NFAA, It takes money to make money in most cases right!

I totally agree.  It has been my hunting bow for the past two seasons.  It was a bit challenging to get tuned and I think that throws off some people; that plus the draw cycle which does take a bit to get used to.

It is very accurate though and very durable.  I love my Trykon XL but it I had the money I might be tempted to pick up a Katera XL.

I shot the new bow today.. and although it looks like it has a pivoting limb pocket like bowtech.. that is not the case, it just has a extremely long limb pocket.. the bow is extremely smooth, quiet and fast.. and that was a bare bow.... ordered mine today....

I would like to kno wwhy everybody has to think theres is bigger better and faster and just be happy you have bow huntign brothers out there.
To me when someone has to push there product to me and puts me down for the choice i made actually makes me look the other direction.

Hoyt i understand your position, you are on Hoyt staff??? If i was on staff i would hype the product also, but when people push a product just to say it is better, come on now...
Some of those hoyts look nice and i am sure they shoot nice. But really, is it the bow? Nope... It is the person holding the bow that makes the difference.

I dont think im pushing anything, personaly I think hands down they are the best bow line top to bottom out there... and you cant name a worthy bow or bow company that I have not shot and tested their bows..... my buddies shoot, matthews, bowtech and hoyt mostly.... more hoyts then others....... but again I have shot them ALL.. I used to shoot martin for the longest time, when I was young my first bow was a hoyt, my first deer I shot with a alpine of all things, then my first target bow was a hoyt, then a martin scepter.... then about 3 years ago I got my trykon XL and have never wanted to shoot anything else........ I dont need much convincing.... I ask alot out of my bows.. period... and hoyt has NEVER let me down...... my buddy went through 6 martins before he switched...... and he also LOVES hoyt and says there is no comparison.. Id agree..... I want a bow thats tough as nails, always x ring accurate, quiet, fast and smooth and that is any and every hoyt I have ever shot, not to mention the grip fits my hand better then any other bow I have shot..  I have never been a bowtech fan myself since they came out.. they came onto the scene with speed which sadly sells a ton of bows ... but that was their selling point in the first few years and I never jumped on the bandwagon.... they make a nicebow , all the bow companies do, but IMO for a lot of reasons hoyt just makes a better bow..... experience, innovation, shootability... and lets not forget the 1000 dry fire limb test and 1500 dry fire riser tests... thats TOUGH......... no other bow company can say that....  I agree it 100% personal chioce and thats great.. thats why so many bow companys still exsist.... they all sell....... but just like ford vs chevy.... people will always have a favorite and reasons why ........... for me its HOYT..... and I dont know many people that have shot one and did not buy it........ just my thoughts........... id say the top 3 are  Hoyt, matthews, and either Bowtech or maybe PSE but thats hard for me to say as they have just begun to come out with quality bows again with the x force in recent  years........... I like to state my thoughts and listen to everyones elses........ isnt that what forums are for?

If the Nike shoe company paid the world’s 50 fastest sprinters to wear only Nike brand shoes during competitions, it would be no surprise that most of the big races would be won by athletes in Nike shoes. Would it be fair then to conclude that Nike shoes make runners go faster? Of course not! But the company could make it seem that way if they advertised the race statistics without mentioning the paid endorsements. Sadly, some archery manufacturers use this same little trick to entice buyers, and it usually works. Beware of advertising campaigns that lead you to believe their brand of bows are more accurate, and tempt you with "stacked" statistics on how many tournaments their bows win. The Point: Bows don’t win tournaments any more than shoes win races. The most talented runners win races and the most talented shooters win archery tournaments. Many factors are involved in accurate shooting (proper fit, careful tuning, good technique, etc.). A good high-quality bow is just one part of the equation.

Took this out of something i was just reading and it makes sence.
I love to read what others think. But most think one way and will not listen to others. Hoyt is a quality bow, but i can take 10 bows from 10 different companies and kill just as many animals with 1 of them as i could with any of the others.
I am not a target shooter, i am a hunter and i guarantee you that a 1000 dollar bow will not get me any closer to an animal than a 350 dollar bow would.

Thats a true story and hoyt does have some of the worlds best shooters on thier pro staff... and yes just like them I can shoot any bow very very well.. but still have yet to find a bow that is more forgiviing indoors then my hoyt.....  I am a target archer/bowhunter and for the bowhunter No you dont need that new $900 alphamax I just ordered.. but to be competitive indoors or at 3d or field....... you sure as hell do........... The diff from a $350 bow to one of these is so great indoors its crazy.......... but to really understand that you would have to do it 5-7 days a week like I do... id guess I shoot more shots in a week then most guys do all year.......So I do notice all the "little" things that each bow I shot have to offer...... if you dont live your life that way your not going to notice the diff in the upper end bow compared to a mid range........ remember I shoot a target smaller then a quarter at 20yrds for score... to consistently hit something that size and smaller you need the best....... and you would notice any diff in a bows performance...... My martin scepter Id say was as forgiving as my pro elite but thats the Only other bow that I have shot that I can say that for........and in serious indoor comp when a x ring means a win or loss I do notice the diff..............

Why not copy the fastest growing archery company there ever has been.  Took them less than 7 years to become one of the top selling bow companies.  Hoyt isn't stupid.  You have to make what sells.  They FINALLY figured out that not everyone wants to pack a cement block around in the woods.  Nice to see they have slimmed their bows down.  They are missing the buck though by not offering a faster bow.  Speed still sells.  Yes I know speed doesn't make it better, but lots of guys will look the other way just because of the speed.

After looking at their line up.  I would probably not put them in the must shoot before I buy a new bow list.  If a shop had one set up to shoot I'd try one just to see.  Elite, bowtech, and pse have bows that peek my interest more.

You seen Jerry Maguire?  "Show me the money!"  That is the only reason any shooter shoots for a company.  They are all pimped out.  So quit throwing that out there.  Mathews does the same thing.  It doesn't mean squat to anyone with any common sense.

I shot the new hoyts last year and didn't really like the feel, I like the alpine better then I shot the bowtechs and diamonds and it came down to the black ice and guardian. Its all in the persons taste as to what fits there shooting habits, not everyone has the same hand size/shape or the same form. I think everyone should go out and shot every bow they can get there hands on before they decied what they like. :twocents:

I shoot with a guy that has shot for most bow companies and he is shooting for bowtech, I have never see him not shot a perfect score during the indoor tournaments here:o

For what it's worth I've been in the market for a new bow and have been shooting some new bows lately.  I've tried the Bowtech Admiral, Captain, and SWAT, and the Elite Z28, and the Hoyt Alphamax 32 and 35.  ALL of these bows have been awesome to shoot and I am continuing to try more bows before I decide to plunk down a crapload of money.  I have no brand loyalty and I currently shoot a Parker Hunter Mag.  I'm currently leaning towards the Hoyt Alphamax 32 but that's just as a matter of personal preference.  I don't think anyone can claim to be the best company because the best for one person sure is not gonna be the best to another.  I'm just happy we have so many awesome choices to choose from.

I took mine in for the recall and they made the necessary adjustments.  It's a sweet shooter but does have a bit of a pop and the end of the pull, that's the only thing I don't care for about the bow...

I'll try the Alphamax sometime soon!
