I seen it yesterday... The new bows are up on there website at www.hoyt.com  - It's called the Alphamax...  I believe someone was bashing BowTech bows on here under the arrows thread (well not quite bashing just giving each other a hard time) but it appearts that Hoyt has copied BowTech with the center pivot limb design!!!  :yike:  :yike:  :yike:  Oh and, the Hoyt's are slower than the BowTech's!  :o  :chuckle:

I wouldnt say they copied, maybe took a already decent idea and made it better.. let me know when hoyt has a recall or when bowtech can withstand 1500 dryfires.. or when they win anything in any major tournament circuit................. :P

Not all of their bows look like bowtechs, the new alphamax yes, the old ones not so much.

The Katera is a mighty fine bow.  Heck, I even like my Trykon XL even though most think it is a hunk of junk.

What will be interesting is if their center pivot limb design holds up better than the bowtechs did.

BowTech never had a problem with the center pivot design - actually it worked out just the way they had intended!  The General is the one that they had a problem with and it was because they had the limb manufactured incorrectly and it was splitting at the end cap where the axle was...  I never owned a General and never will as I like a little longer axle to axle bow.

I can't disagree with you on the tournament standpoint, and the fact that Hoyt's older bows do not look like a BowTech because they don't!  The only ones that resemble a BowTech are the 2 new ones.  I am not saying that Hoyt makes a bad bow because by no means do they - some of the best archers in the world shoot Hoyt.  All I am saying is they somewhat copied BowTech's design...  :chuckle:

I dont get how anyone that has ever shot a trykon xl thinks its a pos.. thats been my hunting bow since 06... it shots smooth as can be, is quiet and x ring accurate.... I shot my first vegas 300 round with it..... and killed my first bull.... it has never let me down period.......... and i still wouldnt say they copied, they took a good idea and put their own twist on it...... Id still bet its a better bow, and no one can really argue about hoyts toughness... no bow comes close to 1500 dryfires for the riser and 1000 for the limbs.. they have been a industry leader for a LONG LONG time.. and I used to shoot martin.. but after I got my last hoyt.. I have never looked back....... bowtech makes a good bow for sure...... but they are not on the same level IMO......

Everyone of the top bow companies make great bows. I have seen a hoyt with a bent cam from a dry fire, it still shot but it wasnt that accurate.

When I went looking for a new bow last year I shot every bow I could get my hands on. I ended up with a Diamond black ice and love it, but when I go look for another bow for target only I will go back though all the new bows and see what feels good to me. :twocents:

No doubt Hoyt makes a tough bow.  Three years ago my Ultratec popped out of my bow rack while doing about 25 on my Trail 110 and I ran right over it, right down the middle.  Readjusted the sights and killed my bull with it the next day, one tough bow for sure.  Hoyt has been in the business for a lonnnngggggg time and definetly has the financials to buy good shooters, thats why they win all the big ASA and IBOs and NFAA, It takes money to make money in most cases right!

I totally agree.  It has been my hunting bow for the past two seasons.  It was a bit challenging to get tuned and I think that throws off some people; that plus the draw cycle which does take a bit to get used to.

It is very accurate though and very durable.  I love my Trykon XL but it I had the money I might be tempted to pick up a Katera XL.

I shot the new bow today.. and although it looks like it has a pivoting limb pocket like bowtech.. that is not the case, it just has a extremely long limb pocket.. the bow is extremely smooth, quiet and fast.. and that was a bare bow.... ordered mine today....
