That's it!  Most buy bear tags but never hunt for them.  When u put in your hunter report and put in that u did not hunt for bear it helps but I don't know if they figure all that in or just use tags bought to tags filled ratio.

It seems most people I talk to only buy a bear/cougar tag for an opportunity kill during elk/deer season.

I buy a bear tag because I bear hunt in August for bears in bear country.

Don't get discouraged. These guys are right. Most tag holders don't actually go out to hunt bear. There are plenty out there. Keep putting on the hiking boots and get after it. Before you know it you'll have one down and you'll be posting pics on here.
