Dear Sportsman,

60 Seconds of your time is critical right now. We need the help of every hunter in America. Please send a message to protect the future of conservation and our rights as sportsmen at: http://capwiz.com/biggameforever/issues/alert/?alertid=62830341&PROCESS=Take+Action.
We need hundreds of thousands of messages in support of the national wolf-delisting announced June 7th, 2013.

Here is what is happening:  Right now, powerful and well-funded anti-hunting groups are sending tens of thousands of messages to decision makers in Washington D.C., urging them to block state conservation efforts and support their radical views.  It is critical that our elected officials hear from many dedicated sportsmen conservationist, like you, today!

Click here to send a message: http://capwiz.com/biggameforever/issues/alert/?alertid=62830341&PROCESS=Take+Action
This isn't just about wolves, it is about protecting the future of:
(1) big game conservation,
(2) our rights as sportsmen; and
(3) states' efforts to protect our wildlife!
Our goal is to reach 5 million sportsmen and send hundreds of thousands of messages. Our native wildlife and our outdoor heritage is at stake.??

Just look at these recent stats!??
Minnesota? - 97% NW Moose Decline: Hunt Closed??.  Moose in Northwest Minnesota have gone from 4,000 moose to 100 moose in the last 20 years.  Statewide Moose declined from 13,000 moose to 2,800 moose leading to indefinite closure of the statewide moose hunt.??

Montana? - 80% N. Yellowstone Elk Decline: Hunt Closed?.  Elk in Montana's Northern Yellowstone have gone from 20,000 elk to less than 4,000 elk.  The late Gardiner Elk Hunt is now closed.??

Wyoming - 80% Jackson Moose Decline: Hunt Closed.  Moose in Jackson have declined by the thousands.  In some areas total moose counts are in the single digits.  Six hundred moose permits are now gone.??

Idaho? - 87% Lolo Elk Decline.  ?Elk in Idaho's Lolo area have declined from 16,000 elk to less than 2,000 elk.??

What you can do.it takes less than 60 seconds to send a letter directly to your U.S. Senators and Representatives and other decision makers in Washington D.C.!
If you haven't already, please send a message here: http://capwiz.com/biggameforever/issues/alert/?alertid=62830341&PROCESS=Take+Action
Send the prewritten letter as is, or tweak it a bit to say in your own words why they need to allow states to manage their conservation efforts to protect native wildlife and our outdoor heritage.??

Thank you for your support,??

Big Game Forever = Sportsman for Fish & Wildlife = Don Peay = Anti North American Wildlife Model/Pro privatization of wildlife.

Pro-wolf people aren't the only ones who have to decide which creeps they are actually willing to advocate with.
Which side are you on if neither will claim you?

Sent mine yesterday, easy to do, less than a minute of your time.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

Not the only example Northway. When it comes to access, how many hunters would be just fine sleeping with the sierra club, the nature conservancy, or their ilk, most of which are also  anti hunting, and throw the motorized folks under the bus? (which have much more in common with us)

Now this is the reply of a common-sense Representative. I absolutely adore Jaime Herrera Beutler:

"Dear Mr. Wallace,

Thank you for contacting me regarding endangered species protections for the gray wolf.  It is an honor to represent the people of Southwest Washington, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me.

After being afforded protections under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), we have seen gray wolf populations successfully increase.  The goal for recovery of the wolf was a population of 300 wolves and 30 breeding pairs.  Today there are over 1,700 wolves in the area.  It is encouraging to see the restoration of a beautiful animal that was nearly extinct.  Since the ultimate goal of the ESA is to get species to the point of no longer needing the level of protection provided under the Act, by definition the gray wolf should no longer be included on endangered species lists.  The ESA should be reserved for animals that face a direct threat of extinction, otherwise the statute is weakened.  Ultimately, I believe it is important to balance the need for famers and residents to protect their livestock and livelihoods with the level of protections afforded the gray wolf and other previously threatened species.

Thank you again for contacting me on this important issue. I invite you to visit my website at www.jaimehb.house.gov for additional information or to sign up to be kept up to date on these issues. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,
Jaime Herrera Beutler
Member of Congress"

In direct contrast, here's the dishwater reply I received from Murray. No commitment, no indication, just politician speak. I guess we can read between the lines:

"Dear Mr. Wallace:

Thank you for contacting me regarding your support for the delisting of Gray Wolves from the Endangered Species Act. I appreciate having the benefit of your views on this matter.

The views of Washingtonians are very important to my work. I will keep your thoughts in mind, and I encourage you to stay in touch. Patty Murray

Interesting reply from Cantwell actually saying that science is the best measure of what we should do:

"Dear Mr. Wallace,

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns about wolves in Washington State and across the country.  I appreciate hearing from you about this important matter, and sincerely regret the delayed response.

As you know, in 1978 the gray wolf was listed as an endangered species in all of the contiguous 48 states except Minnesota, where it was listed as threatened.  Since 1978, the protections for the gray wolf have been reduced as wolf populations have increased across the northern tier of the United States.

In January 2009 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service began a process to remove Northern Rocky Mountain gray wolves from the Endangered Species Act.  This action was finalized by a provision included in the Full-Year Appropriations Act of 2011 (P.L. 112-10), which was enacted in April 2011. This law removed federal protections for Rocky Mountain Gray wolves in Montana, Idaho, the eastern one-third of Washington and Oregon, and a small part of Utah.  Although gray wolves in Wyoming were not included in this law, they were later removed from the Endangered Species Act on September 30, 2012.

According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, all threats to wolf populations in these areas have been resolved. While wolf management policy has recently been turned over to these individual states in the delisted areas, this does not prevent the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from relisting these wolves if the population declines. In addition, gray wolves in the other lower 48 states were not delisted from the Endangered Species Act. Rocky Mountain Gray Wolves in Washington State are protected by state law, and wolves in the western two-thirds of Washington are still protected under the Endangered Species Act.

Please be assured that I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind as I closely monitor the status of gray wolves.  This is a very important issue for me and many Washington residents, and I respect and value your concerns. While I believe in the importance of ensuring the vitality of gray wolf populations, I ultimately believe that these decisions should be based on the best available science.

Thank you again for contacting me to share your thoughts on this matter. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,
Maria Cantwell

Done and forwarded to at least 50 others.

Each of us needs to pass these ACTION ALERTS on to our contact lists.  Here is a possible forwarded message sent along with the original message from Big Game Forever.

Feel free to copy and paste for a message to your contact list.

ACTION ALERT: Take A Stand Against The Anti-Hunting Agenda

Dear Friends,

Please read the urgent message from Big Game Forever (see below) to understand why action from you is needed to support national delisting of the Canadian Gray Wolf.  Note the extreme declines in moose and elk populations due to wolf over-population.

Just one minute of your time to send this very important message to critical decision makers will make a huge difference in ensuring all wildlife species are managed through sound and unbiased science versus emotionally driven pro-wolf propaganda disseminated by anti-hunting groups.

Please take action now.

CLICK HERE (http://capwiz.com/biggameforever/issues/alert/?alertid=62830341) to take action.

Please pass this on to others that believe in wildlife management and conservation through sound and unbiased science, and urge them to take action as well.

Thank you.

Message from Big Game Forever

Take A Stand Against The Anti-Hunting Agenda

Dear Fellow Sportsman,

60 SECONDS OF YOUR TIME IS CRITICAL NOW. Right now, powerful and well-funded anti-hunting groups are encouraging their supporters to contact our elected congressional officials, urging them to block state conservation efforts to manage wolf populations and support their radical views.  If 5 million American sportsmen respond to this threat now – it’s over. We win for the future of big game conservation, hunting and state’s rights! It is vital that elected officials hear from as many dedicated hunters and conservationists, like you, today. Our native wildlife and outdoor heritage are at stake.

With just one click, you can ACT NOW BY CLICKING HERE (http://capwiz.com/biggameforever/issues/alert/?alertid=62830341) to send a message of support for the permanent delisting of wolves (removal of wolves from the Endangered Species list) to give states the right to manage their wildlife populations as opposed to federal rules and regulations.

Protect our Wildlife and Outdoor Heritage.
Wolves are doing significant damage to wildlife and domestic livestock populations throughout the West and Midwest. Family ranchers and sportsmen alike are being hurt by the destruction of wolves.  In many areas, wolf numbers and overall predator density have led to excessive predation on young and adult moose, elk and deer. Not enough recruitment of fawns and calves have led to dramatic herd declines. The number of herds in crisis or showing serious warning signs due to wolf over-populations are increasing.

Just look at these recent stats due to wolf over-population!

Minnesota Moose
97% Decline:  Hunt Closed

Moose in Northwest Minnesota have gone from 4,000 moose to 100 moose in the last 20 years.  Statewide moose hunts closed last year.

Montana Elk
80% Decline:  Hunt Closed

Elk in Montana’s Northern Yellowstone herd have gone from 20,000 elk to less than 4,000 elk.  The late Gardiner Elk Hunt is now closed.

Wyoming Moose
80% Decline:  Hunt Closed

Moose in Jackson have declined by the thousands.  In some areas, total moose counts are in the single digits.  Six hundred moose permits to 0.

Idaho Elk
87% Decline

Elk in Idaho’s Lolo area have declined from 16,000 elk to less than 2,000 elk.
Wolf over-population is a conservation crisis!

What you can do…
Since the USFWS proposed national wolf delisting in June, nearly 100,000 messages have been sent to keep wolves on the endangered species list. The endangered status keeps this uncontrolled predator under federal jurisdiction, and prevents proper management by individual states. By Federal mandate, the opposition wants to force unmanaged wolves into Colorado, Utah, the Pacific Northwest, Arizona, New Mexico, California and other regions of the country.  If these efforts continue unchallenged, the threat will spread across the nation.

It only takes 60 seconds to help.
Send a message directly to the President, Secretary of the Interior, U.S. Senators and Representatives in less than 60 seconds.  Send the pre-written message as-is, or say in your own words why individual states should be allowed to manage their conservation efforts. Your message will be sent to key decision makers with one click.
CLICK HERE NOW (http://capwiz.com/biggameforever/issues/alert/?alertid=62830341) to get started, and thanks for your support.

Yours in Hunting and Conservation,

Ryan Benson
