Sounds like you have the green light and only buy a rifle every 12 years or so, step up and buy yourself your dream package whatever that is. I like the stock on the Sako A7 a bit better then the T3, I like the stock on the Sako Finnlight 10 times better than the T3 or A7 but it really doesn't matter what I like.

Go to a few of the stores and look at as many as you can and buy what YOU like, and by the way Happy Birthday next month, it would be fun to hear about what you get.  The good news is most major manufactures are making rifles that shoot better than what most people can shoot them, great values everywhere in my opinion.
This is the Hunter's badge of glory, That he protect and tend his quarry, Hunt with honour, as is due, And through the beast to God be true.

t3's shoot really well out of the box. personally I'd go with a .300wsm over the 06 or a .270wsm . just better performance hands down with very manageable recoil  . I'd stick with the leupold for sure and use there bases as well.

As much as I like Remingtons, I have to vote T3!  (And I don't even own one...)  Those that I've talked to that have them, love them.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Tikka T3...unless you upgrade to a Sako. I guess I just don't have any faith in remmington right now...No flames please...just my personal opinion.

The Tikkas/Sakos just have an out of the box accuracy and butter smooth bolt that you have to "upgrade" on the remmington to even get into the same ballpark.  :dunno:

As a red blooded American that has fielded a Rem700 for the last 12 years ( Good Man!). You have a responsibility, no! A duty as I do to continue to field Remington's and not sell out to the Tikka trinket crap! ;)

TIKKA'S SUCK!!!! :bash:

Bi-Mart is currently selling the Remington 700 SPS synthetics in stainless in any flavor of factory chambering that fits your fancy for 489.00. That is their scope rifle package, I have purchased 4 over the last couple years. 2 in the stainless(.300 Win, .243 Win) & 2 in the matte blue(.300 Ultra, 7mm Magnum) All have shot well with handloads. You can always upgrade the stock later.

You can't go wrong with a Remington 700.

Tikka's started out at 400.00 bucks, now that thing is going to run you 700.00 plus out the door for a stainless. I would rather throw the cash down for a Sako Finnlite or A7 way before I would take it in the shorts for a Tikka.

Hahaha!

I have this picture in my head of a yellow Pruis, the driver with a pocket full of Barnes crap and a Tikka riding shotgun. Ah hahaha!

If your gona stay with the .06 caliber keep the gun ya got.  Maybe go pillar bed, float the barrel, and get a timney trigger. Spend the money on better optics.  Option 2-keep the action, toss the rest and go semi custom.

While there is more aftermarket support for the Remington ,for strictly a hunting rifle, the T-3 would be less of a gamble. Remington's are hit and miss. With the T-3 you get an accurate rifle, removable mag, and a very easily adjustable trigger. There are aftermarket rails available for the T-3 also.

I'd get an older Remington, with the metal hardware and the cleaner metalwork.

Check out the Tikka ultra light.  Fluted barrel in .308.  I think they are exclusive to Cabelas and wholesale Sports.  I am eyeing it big time.
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.

I was between a remington 700 xcr and a tikka t3 about 4 years ago...agonizing.  When I handled and shouldered both of them the remington just felt so much nicer and better balanced to me than the tikka.  I tried to talk myself into the tikka but ultimately went with the remington.  I couldn't be happier.  Not saying the tikka is bad at all, but I would definitely handle them and see which gun "feels" better to you.
