we're not all as macho ;). In the high country, light weight coupled with accuracy wins in my book every time.

I already know that Mtn Man., glad that's cleared up. I'm not speaking for the others. ;) Light is over rated, if one can't hack it. Get of the sofa, lay off the fast food or take up knitting. :chuckle:

+1 Remington

I have 2, one in 30-06 and one in 7mm. both are OUTSTANDING guns. I'm not sure were the whole "spend a lot of money" to get them to shoot accurately comes from but each their own I guess. I've shot factory and hand loads out of both, the hand loads obviously shoot better because I measure EVERY shot but the factory ones do just fine. I'm just picky.
People not being able to operate a trigger correctly so they think they can pay to be more accurate! :chuckle:

SO TRUE! And a lot of people don't want to admit that most guns can shoot better than they can. Ive heard more than once "this gun don't shoot". than I shoot it and get a killer group. I hand the gun back and say "shoots just fine" lol :chuckle:

That's great!

From tikkas website:
"Tikka T3 offers no gilded engravings, no extra cup holders or delicate polished wood "

Thats a good enough reason for me to not buy one... :chuckle:

No cup holders? Where are all the road hunters going to put their beer?

The T3 is a light rifle. If it suits your fancy you can add 10 pounds to it. However, it would outshoot the factory 700 even then. ;)

They are both fine rifles. Pick the one that feels better in your hands and don't look back.

And take good care of your wife!

:yeah:
bassquatch, I'm in Everett.  I need to get out and shoot again here soon, so you're welcome to meet me and squeeze off a few from my Tikka T3 Lite Stainless just to try it out if you want.

Uhhhhh ABSOLUTELY!! Are you serious? That's a heck of an offer! I will bring my current one as well for a 'second opinion' on the possible scope issue?! I try to shoot nice factory stuff, I don't have the extra time or resources to get into reloading right now...too many other endeavors. I will pm you with contact info Skillet

You bet.  It's really not a big deal, just shooting a few rounds... but just so we're on the same page- you do understand that "squeeze off a few from my Tikka" isn't code for sleeping with my girlfriend or anything.  She'd probably want me to run that by her first.  :chuckle:

Sounds like you have a great deer elk set up already! Anything els on your wish list you could cash in on? A BDL with a vxII in 30-06 is about as good as it gets!

Yep! I promised it to my son for making it into the Army though, he worked his butt off, and a deal is a deal. That's why I am thinking of just towing the line and sticking with a similar set up but just going stainless and composite for a change of pace? I just don't want to overlook the Tikka in the process as I have heard nothing but good things about them....well, until this post at least  :chuckle:

Keep your rifle, put a good stock on it, bed it, if a smith can do it quick enough put a new barrel on it, then have it cerekoted for weather.
