I wish I had some hounds to hunt them with
I will be using shotgun since I am in a weapons restriction area. Any recommendations on shot size for a coon?

Shoot them with a good pellet gun at least 1250fps. I use to double lung coons in my yard in the tops of evergreen trees and drop them with one shot.

My brother in-law use to hunt them with his hounds. Told him I would be interested in a big one so I could get a lifesize mount done. Talked to one of the local taxi's and he wanted $850 for a coon mount. Thought he was crazy so cut the tail off and threw it in the trash.

Funny to see this. I just drug a big one out of the corner buried in my garage that I never finished. He rivals the worst mount award at the moment.
