Any archery instructors in south sound?
« on: November 18, 2008, 10:18:57 PM »
I am planning to spend the off-season learning how to bowhunt.  I have had a couple times with instructors available, but that place is gone now.  I am a total rookie with grandiose hopes of being able to at least not humiliate myself next year for deer, or if I turn out to be some psycho phenom, turkey season.  I learned from trying stuff out with an instructor in the same building (he was helping out several folks trying out bows, but not an actual instructor session) to realize that I have sort of a wierdo left arm as its straight-out position (for grasping the bow) curves inward.  And yes, that was a hellofa bruise that took over a week before fading.

Do any of you know of a place I can sign up for classes or instruction for a rookie learning the fundamentals?  I am in Rochester, and work in Olympia so somewhere sort of in that region is what I need.

As far as gear, I got a fairly crappy 2nd or 3rd -hand older PSE initially just to try out and see, and have some targets as well.  However, I plan to get new equipment, probably in January.  I plan to use the old cruddy one in the meantime practice holding the draw and strengthening my "bow muscles".  I also have ordered the "archerFit" rubberband thingie to take to work and use for the same thing there... since I can't bring the bow to work with me.

Much thanks in advance!

I am sure some one locally will be able to help, but with late elk starting it might be a while before they have time. Good luck.
