Idaho Wolf Hunting
« on: August 14, 2013, 03:37:25 PM »
Guys,

Stupid question, does a guy have to have a hunting license to buy a wolf tag in Idaho?  Hoping the Governor made an exception for the wolf problems......

thanks

from what I know you have to buy both, ends up being something around 75$ if you get the 3 day license or something. Start googling away! and shoot the heck out of them if you do go over there.

Pretty sure you have to buy the non res hunting lic and wolf tag ends up being like 180+... i think the three day is just for small game... i could be wrong...

That is what I was trying to figure out.  Heading over in late Sept to scout and wanted to be able to carry a firearm and was going to pick up a wolf tag if I could with my 3 day small game license.  If you could do that it would only end up being $67.25 for both!  Otherwise your looking at $186.50 for your hunting license and wolf tag.

If you mean a concealed handgun. You only need a Washington State CPL to carry a handgun ( I'm assuming that's what you mean ) in Idaho. I carry my handgun concealed all the time in Idaho. They have reciprocity with Washington State.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

You have to buy a hunting license and then the wolf tag. Good luck. Hunting wolves are not easy.

Thanks guys.  Think I'm going to buy one and hit the Frank Church in late Sept.  Taking the Fox Pro and going to do a lot of calling.  Its a long shot but should be fun regardless.

We were on our way home from Montana in late November and stopped in white sulpher springs and plugged in drumond on the screen. Anyway instead of the main highway we took the short cut through the lolo forest and we saw 4 wolves and ran into a guide with a special wish hunter and e said he had;nt seen a deer for the boy but they had seen several wolves. I have a Idaho license because I hunted turkey there so this year will get a wolf license just in case.

Actually that is incorrect they changed it I think last year.

From the regs.

Electronic Calls: Electronic calls may be used to attract wolves for the purpose of harvest.

Huntnnw,

We were actually looking at that area for a backup plan!  Love that country just don't know it that well.  Not hunting Idaho this year just scouting for future hunts.

Less than $200.00 for a chance to stop one of those deer & elk vacuums before it can cross into "protected" Washington sounds like a deal!
