Idaho Whitetail Help!
« on: August 15, 2013, 08:04:58 PM »
A buddy and I are trying to put together a whitetail hunt for this November.  We are primarily focusing around the Boville area to set up camp. We have studied maps and are pretty sure there is quite a bit of NF around that area, but haven't pin pointed a exact spot to go.  We now there is a lot of Potlatch ground around there to but we are not really wanting to spend all the extra money on the vehicle permits etc.  Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

There is some great whitetail hunting near where you are heading. Take rattling antlers!!!! A grunt tube and a "can". Here is a pic of a big buck I killed near where you are heading. One of the most aggressive bucks I ever rattled in. On Potlach land!! My buddy killed the smaller buck within minutes of mine.

the potlatch ground has a lot more logging so tends to have a lot more deer on it! you don't have to camp on it but plan to hunt it!

My family farmed thousands of acres up on top there at 3 bear, and owned land on Tamarack ridge. Incredible Hunting! Great deer there, and if you talk to the right farmers, they will be happy to help. Just gotta know how to talk to em. They do a lot of damage to their fields, and tends to be a few damage control permits put out in those areas. As was stated above there are some great bucks in that area, just make sure to do what was said, and be patient, there are some good ones. Good luck and cant wait to see the pics.

Amazing info guys!  We are planning on going there this weekend to drive some back roads and possibly knock on a few doors to gain access to some private ground.  We will see what happens!

You can camp right next to Potlatch and hunt it without buying a permit. I hunted wolf over there last year.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

That would be a negative where we hunt. They will ticket you for being on their property without a permit. We've got the paperwork to prove it!  :chuckle:

Buy a wolf tag too. My buddy's brother lives in Bovill and sees wolves around there. That would be a better trophy than a deer.
