Good shooting! Would you shoot an elk at 70 yards? 
I think it is good to practice out far for two reasons. One is it makes those 30-40 yard shots seem way too easy. Also, if I get an arrow in an animal and he runs a bit and stops at 60 or 70 yards, I would love to be able to try and get another one in him before he gets into the deep, dark, nasty stuff.

I didn't mean that 70 yards was an unethical shot and I was just curious if he would or not. I also shoot way further than average distances in practice than I would in the woods.
After a few groups at 60 or more and then stepping in to 35, it's way easier. I think I would shoot at a broadside elk at 60, not a whitetail though.
