Quilcene River
« on: August 19, 2013, 09:35:16 AM »
Will be up near the Quilcene River next week and hoping to hit it up for some coho. I'm familiar with the river and have fished it a few times, but with no success. Seems all that people do there is floss, which I'm not really looking to do.

Just wondering if anyone has any tips they might be willing to share? Feel free to PM if you would prefer.

Fish the rube by the hi-way and not the tide water.  Black is your color.   You can catch fish and not feel dirty for it there.

BTW... Are the fish in yet?

Thanks. Dunno, I'm not up there yet :)   Haven't seen any reports, but I'm guessing it's still a little early.

Just got home from the river. What a waste of time and gas. I'm a pretty damn good sight fisherman, its my favorite style of fishing. So these small rivers are my favorite fishing tiny pockets.....walked from 101 to rogers street, seen very few fish. Nothing worth being excited about. Word at rogers street was a little school of fish came in at 6am and only 1 fish was caught.
Last year we did very good around mid September. Fishing eggs and a tiny split shot to get down. Its fun fishing in and around the logs and all the sudden you see a big cloud of pink in the water when a fish grabs them.  :IBCOOL:

went to the quilicene river today with my better half and got 6 out of a possible 8 towards our limit before the fish vanished. guessing the tide went out. Tons of fish coming up for about 3 straight hours. Banked lots of fish and cut loose the ones hooked in the belly , tail , and dorsal. All in all i had a great time and the game warden even walked right on by without even looking our way and we were totally legal. Oh well. Glad to not deal with a headache. Hope anyone on here that heads up there has a blast and gets there limits too.

Also guys , if anyone has been up there and happened to leave something behind on the bank and would like it back i have it and will be happy to return it. I was there today 8/24/2013 and found it about 2pm. Please shoot me a PM and describe the lost item if it is yours or you know who it belongs to. If anyone can think of another place to put the word out i am all ears and will post it there too. Thanks.

I've heard it is mostly over.  A bunch of seiners started to hit Quil Bay and clean up on silvers.  Then wild chums (ESA fish) entered the river and people are having to be real careful with what they catch (snag).

Went up yesterday and fished for three hours and only saw one fish caught and two fish swim bye and they were both nasty sore backs. Figured the rain last week would have helped...
