RT sent you all on a wild goose chase cause nothing is cheap to shoot anymore.  :chuckle:  May I suggest a nice high powered air rifle.

My  :twocents: is the .270 in synthetic.  I picked up a remington .700 for cheap when it was on sale and it can take some abuse.

Judge rifle. I shoot 3" .410 slugs and they are sweet. -5.8" at 100 yds. 1800fps   ....I know it is  hard to believe. And then add the versatility of bird shot and .45 cowboy rounds makes it great for around home

Ruger mini 14.
Progressives are coming for your guns.
What are you going to do?

Well me, I do not have any guns, gave away or sold them 15 years ago.

Ruger mini 14.

Remember he'll be hunting antelope as well.  .223 might be "enough" for pronghorn but even if it's legal in Wyoming, .243 would handle 'em much better.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

I've got the savage 99 in .243 and it is a sweet gun.  I love the lever action and the .243 is easy to get ammo for as well as reload.  When I was in Wyoming, the .243 was seen as a good all-around caliber good for animals up to mule deer.
