Last day of muley GMU 373,382,388
« on: October 23, 2008, 09:26:47 PM »
After a couple of painstaking weeks of hunting east and west, I am traveling back to the east side outside of yakima to hunt the elk opener.  I have sat above clear cuts all week after work on the west side just outside of South Prairie on the boarder of the Kapowasin tree farm, just waiting to see any black tail.  Without any luck but some sign and a few doe, I want to take one last stab at it, I noticed the three GMU's listed in the subject heading are open through tomorrow.  Since I know where I am going saturday and I will be driving over fairly early tomorrow, I might as well give it one more muley try.  Dont know the area and am hoping someone could give directions to any possible public accessible land in those GMU's ( 373, 382, 388) for one last muley evening hunt.  I am coming over the pass and will be heading towards Moxee, Wa but don't mind taking a detour for one last muley hunt.  I dont think I am going to make late buck anywhere so I figured I will pull into camp late hopefully with a deer right before I wake up to a long trek into elk country.  Anything would help, I know there are similar situations out there and I appreciate everyone contributing to each other.  We are all here for the same reason, we love our country, we pay our bills, and we love to appreciate the opportunities we have.  Good Luck to all!
-Doug

Hey Doug, from what I saw yestrday with my son, the bucks are heavily into pre-rut activities. We had actually intended to be hunting west of Goldendale, but we took a fruitfull detour before we got that far. A lot of the land that is west of Goldendale and south of Glenwood is owned by a timber co. (Champion?), anyhow, it is nearly all open to public access, but except for a few major roads is foot traffic only. So if you're headed to Moxee, that would be the nearest place for you to go and get your hunt on.  Good luck
