It was actually thinner than I thought it was gonna be. It was 1/2" in two small areas then the rest was 1/4"

Very nice bear congrats!  I have a buddy in NH who shot one that had a broadhead embedded in the scapula, all covered over with gristle.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Here's some pics of two vertibraes that the arrow and broadhead are in. It's amazing how this animal could be so healthy and survive such a blow. The two vertibraes are calcified together and the broad head is partially in the spinal chord canal. The arrow isn't even removable however it does wiggle around.
