Seeplakes area coyotes
« on: August 23, 2013, 09:19:57 AM »
Anyone know if it's legal to hunt coyotes in the seeplakes? I've looked in regs and didn't see anything regarding this area or restriction of weapon caliber. I hear them all the time when I'm duck hunting. I also see them every once in a while.

That area is inter-mixed National Wildlife Refuge, Private Land and State Wildlife Areas and the boundries are not marked very well, correctly or if at all.  It is illegal to shoot coyotes on the refuge, they have a specific list of animals and that can be hunted on the refuge.  They used to have day of the week restrictions also, don't know if they are still in effect.

To hunt that area you need to know exactly where you are.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Hunt near the border of the refuge, on state land, call them across the line and let 'em have it!    :IBCOOL:

A GPS would be a wise thing to have with you.

You need  to reed the regs attached to the map there is no coyote hunting in any of the blue areas but there is some state and public land that surrounds the blue areas that can BE hunted public and private with permission and you can call them out of the blue areas.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

These two maps should show the locations of state land surrounding the Wildlife Refuge where it is legal to shoot coyotes.  Like they said before, its not clearly marked out there so be aware of where you are at.
