Deception pass pinks?
« on: August 23, 2013, 11:57:25 AM »
On a whim the boy and I ran down this a.m. and fished off the beach for pinks. It was fairly slow, only caught one on a 2 1/2" pink buzz bomb. We hit the beach just west of the one under the bridge. (not west beach) Tide seemed like it was going out fast. Anyone fish this and know what tide to hit it on or is it more important to be there at daylight? Might hit it again if it works out.

I grew up on whidbey. High tide is best, but they are there all the time. In the pass and on the west side.

I've fished on the SW side of the bridge from a boat during the high to outgoing.  A good eddy forms there and the boats just slow troll into it and out then circle.  We were targeting coho though.  First time there, we caught two, saw one other lost, not bad for us but most boats got skunked.   Saw some people casting from shore but noone with a fish.

fish west beach last 3 hrs of the incoming, best right at high slack, pushes the fish right up on the beach.  I have personally had much better success at West beach.  You were prob fishing north beach.  If you really want to get em Bush point 1st 3 hrs of outgoing is real good.  Keep in mind the bigger tide swings are best as it pushes the fish in on the beach
