bringing dogs to build a deer blind?

I am planning on going into the hills tomorrow to build a few ground blinds. I normally bring the dogs out with me when I go to get them some exercise. Since the season starts next sunday, do you guys think I should leave them at home this time or does it matter?

I'd leave em home. I just put my blind out wednesday afternoon.

I personally would leave them home..  I am pretty anal with my area when doing anything checking cameras, hanging stands or trimming branches.  I don't want to have any reason to push the buck out that I have been watching.   I don't personally think that the smell of dogs is going to impact anything though unless they ran the deer off.  I have had wolves on trailcam and then elk and deer on the same cam 30min to a hour later..

Ya, I figured that dog smell wouldn't really spook them but probably better to not bring them. It just sucks because I know how much they love to get out and run around the hills with me. Those little puppy dog eyes when I am loading up and leaving breaks my heart.

 I just worry about the idiots out there that shoot at anything. Love to take my dog, Riley, running in the woods or just scouting but I'm really hesitant as to where I go. I strap an orange vest on him and have a red collar on him also but I still get a little bit concerned. When I'm on the trail I keep him near and if we are coming up to a turn in the trail I make him stay until I can make sure it's clear ahead. A bit paranoid I'm sure but he's irreplaceable in my heart.

I know what you mean. My dogs are usually within 20-30 yards of me at all times. I probably should put some kind of bright colors on them but I never have. I don't know what I would do if they got shot by someone.

I would say it depends on what you're after.  Of course this is a DEER blind but I mean age of the deer, typical human activity in the area etc.  I would have no problem bringing my dog when I'm putting up a ground blind on lowland muley territory.

When I'm in mountain whitetail country, I wouldn't even consider it

I would bring Buddy, he loves getting out and I enjoy having him with me, and I dont believe that short time in woods would effect deer activity.
