Poly/Cotton blend?
« on: August 23, 2013, 12:09:25 PM »
Just wondering how many of you fellas (and of course gals) wear hunting clothing made with some sort of cotton blend.  I know 100% cotton is a no-no in the back country, but I have some pants that I really like that are made with 65/45% poly/cotton blend.  I'd be interested in using them during the early archery elk season.  Of course I also have full poly clothing as well but would like to hear from the more experienced hunters what their thoughts are on the poly/cotton blend fabrics.  Thanks in advance!

If its dry cotton is not a problem, but if its cold and wet it will suck the heat right out of you.  If you're going out on day trips I'd say do it, early archery elk is gonna be hot so comfort is going to be important.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

Thanks for the response - I always bring some rain gear in my pack in case of surprise rain storm.  Let's hope it's not so hot that there will be too many fire hazard closures! :)

:yeah: Many generations had completely successful outdoor experiences in the days before poly clothing.
If its dry (ish) you will be fine. Even if you do get rained on, you'll be fine, as long as you're not too far from shelter. Just don't wear it when its cold and wet, that's what wool was for.

I try to only wear 100% polyester.
One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.
