westside guide?
« on: October 24, 2008, 12:25:07 PM »
YOu guys heard of this outfit?
http://www.johns-guide-service.com/BlackBear.html

I am getting desperate and REALLY want a bear for the year, since I've only got a couple weeks, I'm considering a day guide... any reviews or other guide suggestions for around her'?

THe only bear guide comment on his site is from a guy who didn't get one!

thanks for the help,
AA

Thought about doing it in the past but I would take it too personal if I couldn't help a client succeed.

I would absolutely suggest John, I don't know him all that well, but being a local and fishing with my guide buddies that know him he knows his stuff and where the game is.  The only thing about this time of year is that he is out pounding the river with clients so I would get a hold of him asap, maybe he'll have a spot open, I don't think he knows me by my real name but ya could tell him Chopper sent you, good luck.

I dont know John personally, sounds like a helluva fishing guide, but from what Ive heard (remember this is all 2nd hand info, his success rate is very low.  Maybe that just because not many guys go guided every year who knows.  Im sure hed be worth looking into though.

Just go for a ride with Billy and pay the gas, he will get you onto a bear.

Your funny. NOT!
Becareful, some people may believe you then get disapointed when they find out it is not that easy. :chuckle:

It is not easy, but if I was to choose to run with someone who knew what needed to be known to increase my odds 10 fold, you would be who I would look for.  I know there are no guarantees, but you definitely have the knack and would increase the odds.

Oh I know it ain't easy for sure, I've logged the hours and miles learning the hard way this season... I got some good info via PM so I am still going after it on my own, the Lord willing, maybe I'll pull something out this weekend. :D

Those look like some monsters on the Carl's page. He looks like the guy who gets success!

Thanks for the vote of confidence.
Other then learning about bears, I think the best thing a person can do is be in the woods. You can't kill them from the couch.
