New Muzzy Trocar broad heads

Anyone shoot these. I've read nothing but really good reviews on sharpness, blade thickness and especially accuracy. I haven't heard anyone say they haven't shot same as field tips. I think I am going to pick up 3 and see what's up

Very good head!  Quality better than the original Rocky Mountain IMO.  Only draw back to them is they do tend to skip on ribs and hide if the animal is quartering away sharply.  But again, much better in that regard too than the Original Rocky Mountain design.  Not a bad price for what you are getting as well!

Thanks for the info Sav, says a lot that you think it's a good head as you know your broad heads. Is the the helical bend to the blades which makes them skip on hides and ribs on strong quartering away shots or is it the short compact design.

I do like the fact that they are as short as a field tip as I feel like some of the longer heads do change the overall length of the arrow thus changing the performance causing the need to broad head tune you bow.

There is not really a helical bend to the blades.  It's basically just an offset slot.  Don't believe the marketing spin related to this offset blade.  If it actually did try to help steer the arrow I would never give it a good review!

Skip problems arise from a broadhead too wide for it's length.  If the blades impact before the tip there is a good chance of a skip.  Almost all broadheads can possibly skip, but some allow for a more quartering angle than others.  Most short broadheads do run this risk.  It's one of the reasons so many are making longer point/tips to offset short wide blades.

I tested the Rocky Mountain version of this head extensively.  I was actually able to use target size blazers in a fare amount of wind with reasonable results.  The WASP Bullet is about the only other head with a good blade I've been able to accomplish that with.

Blades are a bit of a pain to replace.  Beyond that I expect you will be pleased with it.  The Muzzy Trocar has a much improved fit and finish over that Rocky Mountain version I tested a few years back.  The new company is doing a real nice job with quality.

I really looked hard at getting these heads but settled on the mx4 instead for this year because ive used the mx a lot in the past and I can get the blades very sharp with my polish wheel.

Good comparison I think.   At least to the Original and the Magnum style.
