As he lay. Late archery unit 101 seen bigger bucks but he was the only one that gave me a shot. Probably the funnest hunt I've been on in a long time my 8 year old son and my dad watched me shoot him now my boy is hooked. Probably the last hunt with my dad he's loosing a battle with cancer.

4 days of sitting except an hour for lunch and warm-up time. I had at least a dozen pictures of different bucks and many more does on the Friday before the season. Monday morning through today, at most 8 deer the entire day with 1 day only seeing a single buck out of range. I still have my boy to take hunting and the week was disappearing. So after sitting all day today and only seeing a 4X4 at 45 yards through trees, it started to snow at 2 in the afternoon and stopped at 3. Then this guy walks in at 20 yards with 3 does. I wasn't about to let him walk, but what happened next was unbelievable.

After shooting him, the does just stood there, then 1 by 1, the flood gates opened. I counted 17 deer walking past my stand with at least 5 more bucks. I called a friend to help with the drag out and had him walk into the stand to get them all out of there so it wasn't the stand they ran from. My boy is already for tomorrow. Can we go 2 for 2?

It happens to me every year that prior to the season I'll have a bunch of 100" to 120" buck hanging around, but when the Rut kicks, the big boys will cruse through. In past years I've had bucks in the 140" to 160" class make appearances routinely. Today however, all the buck I saw tonight were from the local crowd. There was another 4X4 that I would have liked to shoot, but I made my choice at full draw!

Now it's time for my son to show up his old man. I'm super ready for him to shoot a monster, and now that they are back, that might happen. He is very accomplished at 17 years of age, putting down a nice 5X5 at 123" when he was only 12. He has some inches to go before he tops my largest, but for me, I'd rather shoot a spike and see him shoot the bruiser! Lately, its been the best part of my year to hunt with him.

Attached is a picture of the buck he couldn't come to full draw on last year. This is an example of the big boys that some through. Never see them until the rut.

Sounds awesome.  Good luck to him and enjoy that time!  I am waiting for my 5 year old daughter to get into it.  I am new to hunting but she loves that I do it and eats whatever I bring home so now I just gotta get her out in the woods more and work up to her wanting to shoot something for herself.  Priceless memories!

Haven't been on hunt-wa for a while and just started back up on here...thought IDE share this years kill.

Best hunt I've had in a long time. My dad and I both shot our bucks on the last day of our hunt 15 feet apart from each other. No where close to the biggest buck I've shot but I haven't hunted with my dad in a long time and having that special moment with him was awesome. For those that are wondering the gang sign stands for three E's which is for the three Emericks that go hunting, which is a my dad, myself, and my brother. As soon as my son is old enough it will be 4-E's. All of us and a friend of mine got our bucks in the last two days. Was slim pickings this year. Which is weird for our areas we hunt. Usually we see a lot of animals and several legal bucks. This year the one I shot was the only buck I saw. But still good enough for me. What a great hunt.

Either way thanks for sharing pics...can't wait for next year already. Congrats everyone! AJ
