Thoughts on Robert Milner's book
« on: September 14, 2013, 12:18:56 AM »
Just wondering if anyone has read Robert Milner's book Retriever Training: A Back to Basics Approach and the consensus was. I really liked that it was geared to "hunting" dogs more than FT or HT dogs. I thought it was a good book for beginners (me).

On another note I just ordered the Duck Dogs Basics With Chris Akin DVD's (it was only $25) and was looking for thoughts on this program as well.

While it would not be my first choice, just like Richard Wolters books, thousands of usable hunting dogs have been trained with their methods.  Thousands more likely will be as well.
Guess it boils down to what you expect of your dog and how much time you are willing to spend attaining those goals.
"The only fault in a hunting dog, is one the owner/hunter can't abide".
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.
