Another option which I did for my son was go to Big Five Sporting Goods and they have the Marlins with the Hardwood stock instead of the Walnut stock and they alway have them on sale for about $150.00 cheaper. Only difference is the stock. It is worth while if you are interested. I love the availability of having 9 round in the magazine tube and one in the chamber. Then I have the wallet type ammo carrier in my back pocket and off to the woods I go.
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.

yeah the big 5's around here dont have marlins anymore. they carry puma lever actions lol

i'd much rather stick with a single shot. the type of brush i would be hunting in with this make it almost impossible to get 1 shout let alone a second shot.

i would like to get a tc contender in 30-30 or pro hunter in 460s&w or 500 s&w but again the price tag is far more then i wanna spend. and i would have to sell my other rifle (which is forsale to buy said rifle) but getting the tc would give me the chance if i wanted another rifle to just buy a barrel instead of an entire new rifle.

there are only a few local places that carry a full tc contender or encore. most other places only carry barrels or frames but not both for some reason.

and i have yet to get a local shop to let me get a rifle shipped to them. and getting my ffl is really not worth it to get just one rifle shipped from out of state.

i seem to always have that problem when i have all the money in the world to get what i want.

so ill stick with the H&R and have the same fun hunting the type of hunting i like. thick and nasty brush. do it with a setup under $300 and do it for less then the price of an encore barrel alone  :chuckle:

mike...i have gun shops lined up all over the east side that will ship a gun for me whenever i decide to pony up the $$ to get my stuff shipped  from NY. let me know if you need a name. it is easy to find one, you just have to ask the right people.
