I set it up a week before.  The one big thing is having them get used to it.  I was also on private property.  Ground blinds allow you to move and to avoid detection to add point.  I have hunted Turkeys out of one and works awesome.  First deer out of one.  That deer was close to the blind and never noticed me drawing and moving to get the shot.
