Grouse Down 645 am
« on: September 02, 2013, 12:28:11 PM »
Went out yesterday with my dog for some scouting/grouse hunting just to get him back into the swing of things and to see if we could do it. He's never pointed a grouse and I'd never killed one. Stayed close to home and went to an area where I'd been scouting for deer and seen a few. Parked the truck 1/2 mile from where I'd seen them. Collared up the dog and let him loose. I didn't even get the third shell into the gun when he locked up 50 yards from the truck, luckily I knocked him down with the 2nd shot. Hunted the rest of the morning without seeing anything but deer. Home by noon. Might go out again next weekend looking for some blues this time.

So jealous!  I had a shot on one today and missed!  Right about the same time too.  Congrats!

That's awesome. Good looking pup too.

Nice job! I went out Sunday and didn't even see one bird. The funny thing is, I saw four big grouse Saturday in the same area never can tell I guess.

Nice work!  I have to get out there!
