first archery buck down
« on: September 02, 2013, 08:30:32 PM »
So after spotring the buck late last night I went out after him this am. I found him plus 7 others. I stalked them four times till I jumped a monster buck at 100yds. I turned to get my pack and started to run around the hill to cut him off only to jump 4 2x2's and 2 3x3 bucks. They run out at 55yds and stood there looking at me. I pulled an arrow out of my quiver nocked it then took 3 steps to my left so I had a clear shot all the timw they just watched me. I got to full draw put my 60yd pin on his belly and the arrow was off. I hit him qaurtering away in the lungs, they didnt react to the shot tell it hit. He stumbled off with the other bucks. I waited tell they left my sight and went to find my arrow. I found it next to bright red blood every where. Gave him 20 min the slowly tracked the trail, I found him bedded down at 80yds alive and tried to sneek closer to finsh him only to jump him. Gave him 20 more and walked over the ridge to see him at 80yds again. I nocked an arrow and took the only shot I had at his neck which put him down.

I was amazed he didnt go down faster from the blood trail he left. I got both lungs but it was higher then I wanted. He really only went a few hundred yards.

Congrats, your first bow kill will stay with you forever.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
