No bones tonight jumped the smaller four headed in to the evening stand. Saw him this morning but he went to where I thought I could make the evening hunt work good so let them be for the day. Looks like they maybe circled back throughout the day and went back to the non-hunt able ground.

No question, let the others walk
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

I had the same issue on elk last year.  I have a small 4x4 at 37 yards and the big hard horned 6x6 at 68 yards.  I thought about it for 2 minutes and dumped the 4x4.  I wasn't going to chance screwing it up. :twocents:  But that is just me!

Thank you!!! Well today today was another all day spot and stock. Three o'clock rolls around and the whole herd is up and feeding their way to me. An hour and fifteen minutes later I hit the big guy with the range finder one last time 71 yards dead broadside feeding not a clue I'm there getting ready to send an arrow his way. Tell myself one last time settle the pin and keep form all the way through your follow through. Slowly raise my bow as I am drawing, still not a clue I'm there. Settled the pin eased into the release and kept my form to watch the fletchings sail towards the brute. Then straight to the binos to look for an arrow through the ribs or blood down the side, which I thought I saw some in his "armpit". Over the hill he goes flipping his tail and mouth wide open as him and the herd just walking. So I go to see if my arrow is somewhere to be found (thought I saw it fall out as he ran) couldn't find it there or where he was when I shot. An hour and a half later dad and I found him still with the herd and when he saw us he ran what seemed to be just fine actually leading the herd. Still no arrow to bed found. So tonight is going to be a long sleepless night, really hope it was a clean miss and not wounding him. Had no clue what I was when I shot so he should be back in that draw in a few days. Sound like a clean miss to you guys? The blood I thought I saw would've been the heart and should've been expired after an hour and a half? Oh yea and here is a little horn porn from his 10:30 snack time!!!!

Sounds like a clean miss, but no way to know for sure unless you can find the arrow.  If you find the herd tomorrow and he's not in it I would start looking for a carcass.  Good luck man, that's a SMOKER buck.

Found him alive and well today. Clean miss the way it looked to me. Tried to get on him and he had a doe that bedded before the rest of the herd just up the draw that I had no clue was there. So trying to play the wind and she caught my scent or movement and I got to watch the pig strut his stuff over the hill once again. I swear he gets bigger every time I see him!!!! At this rate he will be giant before I get an arrow in him.

Busy with work Monday, went out Tuesday and found him in his usual hole but looked to be eating the new wheat rather than go to no hunt zone to eat alfalfa, yeaterday busy with work again and tonight had to sign papers for the new house and take the little lady to dinner. Back at it hot and heavy in the morning. Hopefully have some kill pics and a nice long story to finish off what feels like forever pursuit!

Well guys he moved to no mans land for the last couple weeks, was getting real worried he wasn't going to come back. Yesterday was another long day of sitting in the brush wait for him to make his move. He made is final mistake by coming back to the ground I can hunt.
