Strickland Helix BH in action today!

I used to be a G5 Montec/Striker fan, switched to the Helix this year. Was fortunate enough to have a nice fat deer at 36 yards this morning! Well placed shot. The rotating action of the Helix was absolutely devastating to flesh! The deer ran 20 yards and went down hard. I would highly recommend the Helix to anyone who wants a excellent flying, very durable broad head. I have no experience with mechanicals. But so far this is the best broad head I have ever shot.

Hey ya go Smossy! This is entrance. This broad head acts as an auger as it spins through the soft tissue. Very effective! This deer ran less than 20 yards. It was almost a clean pass through, only nicking a rib bone part of the opposite side front leg. We found the arrow buried into a tree 15 yards behind the deers location at time of shot. Half the broad head was buried in the tree.  All this and I'm not shooting a blazing fast bow or specialized piercing arrows... Just a run of the mill set up!

Any broadhead damage? I here those are tough and easy to sharpen back up. Do you have a pic of the helix after you recovered the arrow

. After we pulled it from the tree, it was in perfect condition. The arrow was fine as well. I used it for the rest of the day hunting elk, no luck, but it is in my #1 spot in my quiver.  I have other pics of the Helix after we pulled it.. But tey are blurry.

Keep hearing good things about these, but I still have my doubts. With good shot placement, they look like they'd leave a massive blood trail and create a hole big enough to not quagulate shut.

Good job  its funny when we all try something new how we all say it is the best  we all love new technology  I have never seen them but I check them out ...

That's true Bowhunter45... I have used a few broad heads, but this one is my favorite so far. If mechanicals were legal, I'm sure I would try a couple of those, some of them look wicked! As far as the Helix, I liked the design and how durable they looked... Once I open the package I notices their craftsmanship,sharpness and flight stability but it wasn't till I sent one through hot flesh that I've fell in love! :-). To each his own. I'm not try convince anyone, I'm only sharing my experience. I've been reading up on them for 2 years but just finally got some this summer.

MtnMuley- it was a well place shot. The damage was significant. There seems to be a lot of traditional bowhunters who use them abroad. I was just very happy how they flew, I was nervous that a compound bow wouldn't have same flight characteristics.

MtnMuley-If you live near Olympia and shoot 100 grain, lets go shoot, I wished someone had made me that offer so that I could see them in person and shot them before I bought them.

I'm on the other side of the mountains, sorry.  Have you ever checked out the toxic broadheads?  If not, they're a nasty hole puncher as well.

ShooterBull , what is your setup ? Bow weight / arrow length and weight .  I like the way they look but only knew of Trad . guys shooting them . I'm shooting 70 lbs. at 30 in.  with a 425 grain arrow and was concerned how they would fly at over 280 fps.
