#13 ended up with a kinda unique shape. So I figured it was a great candidate for my new, Budget Custom Hunting Knife Idea!
Lucky #13!
This is a hand made one of a kind 8670 Carbon Tool Steel Blade, Cedar Micarta Grip, Brass and Nickle Pins, and a Kydex Sheath. The blade is blasted, buffed, and blued. Beveled at a steep angle and finished off shaving sharp. Really a nice handling knife, even with the "unique" blade shape.
Price: $80 delivered in the US.
Here's a couple pics...
Again, just $80 delivers this one!
Post or PM if you'd like this knife.
My idea is this: Building hand made, one of a kind, ergonomic (my signature) custom knives out of carbon tool steel. Having the heat treat done by an experienced bladesmith. Then blasting and bluing them, gripping them with basic micarta scales, and sheathing them with Kydex. This one, lucky #13, is a test model of this idea, and since it's in my "first 25" numbered series, and built from 1/4" 8670, it's a little more money. But I figure I could build these out of 1/8" L6, 1080, 15N30 or similar tool steel, in smaller configurations, finish them off in this style, and PROBABLY price them at $65 delivered. What'd'ya think?!?!
Here's some of the blades I've ground out for this idea....
The build will be similar to #13 in every way. A couple micarta color options. Brass or nickle or bronze pins. And BLACK kydex, not blue.
Most of these blanks are designed to have the grip scale stop short of the lanyard butt of the knife, so the very butt end of the tang with the lanyard hole will just be blued steel extending past the grip. (It's a really cool look! Especially with a leather pig tail! I've done it a couple times.)
I won't take specific blade deposits just yet, but tell me you want one when they're available, and I'll start making a list to give first, second, third... dibs once they come back from heat treat!
Again, speak up if you want Lucky #13! It's ready to go!
Thanks guys!
