is this a good bear (round 2)

Sorry if I offended anyone yesterday with the profanity in my camera signature line.  I have since cropped a few photos so the camera name is out of them.

What do you think of this Bear? I got 900 pics of him eating my apples and deer block.  he came in august 9, 12,13,14,16,17,26,27.  Yup...They're HABITUAL!!! Anyway, I plan to hunt him away from the camera sight about a 1/2 mile away in a clear cut with a lot of bear sign.  I'll try and call him in with a predator call after early archery.

Disclaimer,

After receiving a few PM'S I'd like to clear things up. I did not intentionally bait this bear. It came into my cam that I had set up for deer. I let it soak for over 20 days and ended up with over 900 pics of the bear. I do intend to hunt whatever bear (s) are in the area but not until after early archery deer, and not anywhere in the timber stand that I had baited for deer. I will hunt the bear with a predator call in a clearcut away from any trails or absolutely anything having to do with my apples and deer block.

This is only my 2nd year hunting and I want to be able to continue hunting so I play by the rules! also this is my first time playing with trail cams and was very excited to get a bunch of awesome pics.

I think you should call a local warden, regional office, or Olympia and get clarification on how far you need to be away from your deer bait to hunt bear! Then report here what you found out.

I did remove the camera on Sunday due to lack of deer activity. The area has no bait in there as the bear ate it all. last pics I got of him were on the 27th. if somebody knows somthing I don't then please chime in but as far as I'm concerned I have done nothing wrong. I was just excited to show off the pics.

I'm gonna guess its a sow, not a big one but not small. The bottom picture it looks a lot better than the top picture... I am also very horrible at judging bears I have learned.

 I don't think you've done anything wrong at all. Good plan to pull the camera and let the bait go away. Bearpaw's comment about checking with a gamey might be a good idea just so they know you have good intentions. A lot of different scenarios can happen in the woods and if a gamey comes across one that even looks semi-suspicious he's going to draw the wrong conclusion and you're going to be on the hotseat. If they know where it was and where you're going to be hunting then you should be good to go. It would be my luck to move a drainage away, stick a bear, and then have him run all the way over to the previous bait site to die. Whoops! Just Murphy's law but then I go by O'Toole's law-He thought Murphy was an optimist!

Looks to me like those are two different bears, one has really large ears while the one on the bottom has tiny ears and a bigger head. The bottom bear looks like a pretty good bear.

I had the same situation two years ago.  The advice from the Game Warden I spoke to was to not hunt the area.  There is no distance or timeframe stipulated by the laws or regualtions.  However if your site is under the watchful eye of the Dept and you end up killing a bear that was influenced by your baiting, then they can charge you with illegally baiting for bears.  I had a friend who was baiting for deer and had an absolute toad of a bear take over the bait station.  He ended up pulling everything, doesn't hunt bear and had no desire to start.  I wanted to hunt the area with predator calls.  Probably could have done it without any problems but I wanted to make sure, Game Warden recommended I not hunt the area, so I didn't.

If you intentionatlly hunt bear on an active bait site problems but if there's no bait its not a bait site that would be my awnser.I know you can't hunt waterfowl on a corn field after its been cut for like ten days I think.give it a couple weeks and take the bear hell probly move on iff there's no food
