9 Day Wilderness Pack List
« on: September 04, 2013, 08:58:17 PM »
Here is my Pack List for a Nine Day Wilderness High Hunt. 61.8 Pounds.  With 100 oz of water to get between sources for the hike in.

My hunting partner carries the shelter.

Looks good best to plan your water sources for sure as at 8lbs a gallon water gets heavy. my shelter is a bivy for the high hunt. Go in light come out heavy!!

How does that do you on pack room?  Is that the 5200ci pack?

Any room left for meat with camp?

Sorry, just in the market for a high-end pack hopefully next year.  I want something big enough for longer trips like that but not too ridiculous for a overnighter or 2-3 days...

I run a Kifaru BT1 which is a 7200 CI pack.  I can fit that full regiment of gear, and a fully boned out deer in that pack.  I had 1/4 of a bear, and the hide, with all my normal gear, and had plenty of room left over for more (though in reality...it was heavy enough).

The Kif's pack down super small for "day hike" mode.  I don't have any experience with the other high end packs though.

Only 1 pair of socks and underwear? Or are you not counting what you will be wearing in?

Also, only 15' of cord? What is your food storage method for critters both large and small?

Not counting what Im wearing in. socks and underware are all Merino, two pairs of each is enough. My food stays in my pack, I don't hang it.

Chapstick....Neosporin can act as that..... My emergency firestarter is a Vaseline soaked cottonball.  Also used as Chapstick if needed.

Curious on why three weapons... Extra pistol is a lot of weight?
