my deer season so far....
« on: October 20, 2008, 09:34:27 PM »
well...there's not much to talk about. nothing in the freezer, nothing on the wall. i have been able to hunt exactly 4 days during general deer season so far, but i have spent those 4 days in some of the most beautiful places i have been in this state to date. the first weekend found me stuck at home due to family priorities. my grandmother was in town for an extended vacation to be here for my daughter's first birthday and decided to extend her stay to be here for my birthday(october 11th) which just happened to be the opener of general season. i didn't have it in me to ditch her for deer season, so i changed plans and hunt e-wa on the 2nd weekend. i hunted part of the day on the 12th on the west side for the first time ever and this is where i ended up:

no deer...no goats that day, and no bears. 3 grouse, i let them all walk  :chuckle:

friday, the eve of weekend 2 found myself, the wife and kid bombing over to the in-laws house down in the blues. we got to the house at midnight, in bed by 1am :bash: and were up at 6 headed to the farm to spend the first half of the day hunting for a couple big yt bucks i knew were around. no dice....

passed on 1 legal dinker buck and got busted by a shooter who was up, out of his bed and at mach 4 before i could shoulder the rifle. nice long tined wide whitey buck....never to be seen again.
the 2nd half of the day saturday and a good part of sunday found me solo and headed for the blue mountains wilderness for some exploring....i saw only 2 muley does in this area, but did have an up close and personal experience with a little raghorn bull and a few cows.

a couple of the reasons the blues have some giant bulls.....

all in all i obviously would have liked to spend more time in the woods but had other priorities. i feel i made the most of the limited time in the woods i had available to me this season. it ain't over yet but not sure how much more time i'll get out there this year.

Beautiful pics, the sky in that first one is awsome, did you use a polarizer?

Nice pics.  Hope to see some of the country in the 3rd pic in a couple weeks.  I am going to need to spend some money on a camera someday. :dunno:

Very nice.  Glad you enjoyed your time out there.   Thanks for the pics.  I need to spend more time down there.  Maybe sometime I can show you some of the Methow and you can show me that stuff.
